Year 3 Welcome Letter!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Year 3! I hope that you all had a fabulous summer! I am really looking forward to teaching your children this year! They are all settling in to the new routines and we’ve had lots of smiles this week! A superb start!

Topic

Our class topic for this half term is ‘Fantasia.’ This project has a science and geography focus and we will be learning about endangered animals, the rainforests, habitats, food chains and our wonderful Welsh wildlife!

Reading

The children will be given two stage reading books and they will be allocated reading days. They need to bring their reading books and reading records into school on their reading day. Please read with your children as much as possible and you are welcome to make comments in their reading records. Thank you.

Homework

Spellings will be available to the children via Reading Eggs on Fridays and the spelling activities need to be completed by the following Friday.

Literacy homework will be set on Reading Eggs every week. This might be a book to read from the library or a reading activity.

Maths homework will be set online using the MyMaths website.

The children’s login details remain the same as last year, but I will be sending out a copy of all the children’s passwords shortly.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday.

PE

This term, the children will have PE on a Wednesday. All PE sessions will be taking place outdoors. Please can you ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kits on Wednesday. Thank you. PE days will change throughout the year, due to the nature of the activity taking place. I will inform you of day changes as and when they happen.

Equipment

The children will not be required to bring any pencils cases, calculators or writing equipment into school this year. It is all provided for them!

Healthy Snack

The children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to school to enjoy at break time.

Pupil Information

In order to maintain up to date records, please could you inform me of any allergies, medication, or dietary requirements the children may have. Thank you.

Many thanks for your cooperation! If you have any questions or queries about anything, please don’t hesitate to give me a call on the school phone number above. I am looking forward to a fabulous year with your children!

Miss Evans.
