Nursery Welcome Letter 2020-2021

WELCOME TO NURSERY!

Dear Parents,

We would like to welcome you all to Nursery! We are looking forward to seeing you, having fun and getting busy. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and outline the routines of the class.

Our names are Mrs-Harris Griffiths, Mrs Phillips and Mrs Stabler. If you have a query or want to discuss any matters, just let us know and we will answer any questions you may have or arrange a time to discuss this further. A copy of this letter will also be posted on our class page on the school website for you to refer back to if needed.

Drop-off and Collection

School starts at 9.00am and finishes at 11.30am. We ask that all children are lined up behind the gate in the middle yard where I will come to greet you.  We will then walk into class and all other nursery staff will waiting to help your child to place their belongings on their own peg etc.

At the end of the school day, we will dismiss each child individually, when we see their parent. Initially, this may take a little time, however once we learn all of your faces, we will get quicker! Please let us know if another family member or friend is picking your child up that day. If you have any concerns over how your child is settling, please don’t hesitate to contact the office to gain further reassurance.

Snacks and drinks

Please could your child bring a healthy snack and a drink in a labelled container and water bottle every day. Please could your child have their snack and drink ready to put in our snack box, which will be placed at the main door as they enter the classroom. We would ask that you do not give cherry tomatoes or grapes for snack.  In order to maintain up to date records, please could you let me know of any allergies, medication or dietary requirements your child may have.

Clothing

Please could you place a set of spare clothes, shoes and socks in your child’s bag every day, as the children may have accidents. The children will be encouraged to change into their dry clothes with support from the staff. We would ask that all items of clothing, coats and jumpers are labelled clearly with your child’s name.

Class Topic

Our topic this half term is ‘Battle of the Dinosaurs’. In this topic, the children will be learning about different types of dinosaurs and their characteristics. There will be many more fun activities for the children to do and we can’t get wait to get started!

PE

PE will take place on Wednesday. For the foreseeable future, PE will only take place outdoors. Please could your child come to school already dressed in an outdoor PE kit (joggers/leggings, T-shirt, trainers and school jumper).

Messy Monday

The children will be using the outdoor area on a daily basis so please bring a coat every day. However, on a Monday we will be spending more of our time outdoors! Messy Monday will start back from Monday 14th September. The children may wish to wear plenty of warm layers of their own clothes to school, as we spend the whole morning outside exploring fun activities. You can find photos and videos of our great experiences during Messy Monday on the class webpage.

School Website

Please visit our class page regularly. I will post regular photos and videos in order to share all the great experiences we are having in Nursery.

Hopefully this answers any questions you have. If there are any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Harris-Griffiths
