Autumn Term Monitoring

During our Autumn Term Review Fortnight members of the Triple H and the AoLE Leader undertook Workbook Scrutiny and Listening to Learners activities. In addition, the AoLE Leader undertook a learning experience sampling activity which provided an overview of Health and Well-being within each progression step at LPS.

The following strengths were identified-:

All Health and Well-being learner experiences sampled have reflected local, national and the wider world within the topics. Learners at Progression Step 2 used local visitors as a stimulus for their topic, The Happy Healthy Helpers. The follow up activities involved using the knowledge from their visit from the Nurse to complete cross curricular activities, such as sorting healthy and unhealthy foods.

The Health and Well-being learning experiences sampled offered appropriate cross curricular skill development. Within both Progression Step 1 and 2, The Good to Be Green system and LPS Code were both used to develop literacy and citizenship skills, using strands from the PLJ as discussion points.

Learners sampled within Progression Step 3 used their prior knowledge and skills developed within the PLJ to express their opinions on local artists work displaying working and living conditions through their research project, Copperopolis.

All progression steps have used Jigsaw to carry out assessments through class assemblies and follow up discussions’ tasks. This has allowed learners to build social skills, develop emotional literacy and nurture children; s relationships with themselves and others.

Our next steps are:

  • The AoLE Leader and The Triple H to look at Learning Projects across the school along with workbook sampling and discuss progress with Governing Body.
  • The AoLE Leader and The Triple H will continue to monitor the use of Jigsaw and feedback from learners.
  • The AoLE Leader and The Triple H to meet with Emotional and Mental Well-being steering committee to discuss next steps.
