During ADDs sessions planned throughout the year all teaching staff engage in Self & Peer Workbook Scrutiny.
The format is very similar to the SLT Half Termly Workbook Scrutiny; however, an important difference is that teaching staff undertake this system themselves and in collaboration with colleagues.
This approach yields similar gains as SLT Workbook Scrutiny with the addition of key benefits, such as:
Individual staff take responsibility for their own performance and targets
Teaching staff gain a better understanding of the judgement criteria providing greater clarity over SLT feedback from Workbook scrutiny sessions.
Additionally, with greater understanding of judgement criteria come greater ability to apply the requirements for excellent practice.
More importantly, this approach offers staff the capacity to develop collegiality and professionalism while discussing each other’s successes and areas for improvement.
This approach requires training for all staff in order to maximise the benefits that it can offer whole school improvement.
