Home Learning tasks for the week:

 

There are lots of activities this week. You can choose your favourite or you can do them all. I am looking forward for you lovely photos.

Maths: Some counting activities

Play spot domino

 

Together draw a ladybird body on the floor outside, using chalk. Use the dice you have made. Ask your child to roll the dice and draw circles on the ladybird body to the same total number of spots on the dice. You may want to draw a few ladybirds. Can your child write the number next to each ladybird? Can your child draw a tally marks to the total number of spots on the dice, next to their ladybird?

 

Pegging legs- Draw ladybirds body on paper and help your child to cut them out. Together draw spots on each of the ladybird body up to ten. Can your child count the total number of spots and peg the same amount on the ladybird. Or click on the link below. Ladybird spots.

Book- The Gingerbread Man

Task-   Complete the assigned task.

  • Design your own Gingerbread Man. Think about shapes, patterns, clothes, features and colour.
  • Cooking- How about weighing some ingredients to create your own Gingerbread Man and use your design to decorate it. Practice weighing and counting Follow the recipe below.

When reading the story, talk with your children about how the Gingerbread man felt being chased.

Were the characters in the story nice to the Gingerbread Man? 

What was the fox thinking?

Think of a different ending of the story.

Phonics: Phonic baskets

Write the sounds s, a, t, p, i, n on a sheet of paper and cut them out. Place each sound on a plate or in a basket. Ask the children to on a hunt around the house looking for objects that have the beginning sound in each basket.Can your child sort the objects?

 

 

Topic: Bug Home: Create a home or den for your mini beast.

Can you go on a nature walk in your garden. Can you find some natural materials in  your garden such as pine cones, twigs, leaves, stones and grass. You can use some man made materials such as wooden boxes,  flower pots, drinking straws. Up to use how you want your home to look like. Talk about the difference of man made and natural materials found. 

 

Read the story What the Ladybird heard. Can you together create your own map of the farm of the ladybirds journey. Draw and write some labels for you map. Don,t forget to draw your ladybird.

 

Have a look at the facts about ladybirds. Can you tell me something about your mini beast? Video your self sharing some facts you have find out. I would love to hear about them. You could tell me,

  • How your mini beast moves?
  • Why do ladybirds have spots?
  • Why are beetles brightly coloured? (camouflage)
  • Where do they live?
  • What colour is your mini beast?
  • What does it eat?

 

You may  only want to talk about one fact. It is up to you. I am looking forward to see you and your mini beast.
