In order to support parents and carers of children and young people who are presenting with difficulties, including the development of social communication and interaction skills, the specialist teachers are holding Time to Talk sessions. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to meet the specialist teachers (with sessions starting 19 Nov) , with a view to building parent partnerships and to enable discussion of any issues they may be experiencing.
Speech Language and Communication information for parents
Welsh Government have produced the attached booklet, which is aimed at parents of children aged 0-5 years, with tips about how to support language development.
Resource: Talk with Me
Children’s brains are amazing. They are constantly growing and making new connections. When parents talk with their children, they light up their minds and help their brains to grow. We are really excited to officially launch ‘Talk with me’ – the Welsh Government’s latest campaign designed to support parents with helpful tips, advice, and resources to get their children (between 0-5 years old) talking.
Every child is different, and they all develop at different stages. We have developed plenty of free, easy strategies that parents can add into their daily routines to help give their child the best start in life. To mark the launch of Talk with me, we have developed a TV advert alongside a range of expert-led tools, tips, and resources. These are all available on the Talk with me campaign webpage and our Facebook channel @Siarad gyda fi – Talk with me.
To support your child's speech, language and communication needs, Speech and Language Link have launched a Parent Portal.
