Play, Learn and Grow Together

2020-2021

During Review week, the AoLE leader and the PVG carried out monitoring activities and we identified the following strengths related to our action plan-

  • From monitoring pupils work, listening to learners and professional dialogue it is evident that Humanities continues to be taught to a high standard in all year groups at LPS, the current curriculum ensures that the children are submerged in a wealth of rich topics that are mainly history or Geography based. This is providing learners of LPS with a wide variety of experiences and a range of knowledge and skills throughout their learning projects.
  • The Humanities taught across the school is enriching all areas of the curriculum and children are having experiences that are cross-curricular and engaging. Key skills are being developed through the Humanities curriculum. An example being in Year 6, where the children developed their data handling skills by analysing scatter graphs for crop growth in different climates. This is improving their ability to transfer skills and improve their standards.
  • Our current curriculum is extremely cross-curricular and therefore ICT has been planned for and is linked to the topics. This is not only developing the children’s digital competency, but is also raising the standards of ICT in all year groups. An example being in Year 3 where the children developed their research skills and created fact files on different countries around the World using Power Point.

Our next steps are-

  • The Aole and Eco Warriors will work together to review the development of our new curriculum. We will be working together to monitor the children’s knowledge and understanding of our local and national heritage. This will enable the children to demonstrate appreciation, empathy, culture and respect for where they live.
  • To continue to work collaboratively with the Healthy Happy Helpers towards the Silver Rights Respecting School Award.
  • To improve the teaching and learning around sustainability and Global citizenship.
