Summer Review

Health & Well-being:

  • AoLe Leader continues to work with the Emotional and Well-being Steering Committee to ensure improved provision for all learners, staff and wider community. The Steering Committee have developed action plans and strategies in line with Emotional and Mental Wellbeing framework, in order to support the wellbeing of learners, staff and the wider community. This work will support the inclusive whole-school approach to pupils’ health and wellbeing.
  • ALN Leader has developed effective links with other schools and external agencies to improve support for Health & Wellbeing.
  • Year 5 and 6 members of our Triple H have been working alongside AoLe Leader to support the younger children with their lunches. Each lunchtime 2 pupils from Years 5 and 6 assist with giving out lunches, the salad cart and supporting the younger children to cut up their food. It has allowed the older learners to have a sense of responsibility and showed that they are fantastic role models for the younger children. It has been a great success from all involved and will continue into the next academic year.
  • Listening to learners demonstrated that many classes are participating with enthusiasm during the new playground games which is having a positive impact on their health and wellbeing.
  • LPS Health and Wellbeing Progression Model is ready for implementation next academic year.  This incorporates 'Jigsaw' (The PSHE Programme) and ensures all aspects of Health and Wellbeing Statements of What Matter are delivered across the school for all learners.  Each class will incorporate these skills across their Learning Projects and be delivered through weekly class assemblies.

Our next steps are:

Physical Education

During our review activities this year, members of the Pupil Voice Group and the AoLe Leader undertook Listening to Learners activities and spoke to members of staff.

The following strengths related to our Action Plan were identified:

Several pupils have attended football tournaments which has provided them with a good experience of teamwork and co-operation.

Some pupils have competed in a cricket competition providing pupils with the opportunity to experience different sports.

The Fitness Fanatics have successfully ran multiple sport sessions for their peers during break times which has provided them with useful skills and experience.

Year 6 pupils were able to attend and compete in a cluster athletics tournament which provided pupils with a good opportunity to mix with other pupils prior to transitioning to comprehensive.

There has been continued success with local community links as our partnership with Swansea A.F.C and Mr Humphries which have provided pupils with rich and varied learning experiences.

Nearly all pupils have engaged well in and enjoyed their physical education sessions and demonstrated a good understanding of how to be successful in their learning.

Our next steps are:

To continue to embed orienteering into the schools PE scheme to provide extra coverage of skills for all pupils.

To implement a new cluster sports league and to hold different sporting events for multiple year groups.

To use the orienteering scheme to promote cross curricular learning throughout LPS.
