Play, Learn and Grow Together

Literacy

In this topic the children will be learning about a variety of things.

  • Spring
  • How we have grown and changed
  • Beans and seeds
  • Flowers
  • Life cycles

The children shared some lovely ideas and were very keen to learn about the topic. First we discussed about what they new about Spring. We then looked at a video clip to find out some more information.

The children shared ideas and compared how we have grown and changed from a baby to a child. We then listened to a story called, We Are Growing.

We enjoyed playing a guessing game, Who am I? The children had to guess who the baby is.

The children were excited to to go outside on a spring scavenger hunt. They walked around the yard looking for their objects. Once they found them, the children match the beginning sound to the right object.

This term we have been learning persuasion text. We discussed as a class about what they would like to grow in the nursery garden. We used the skeleton aid to share our reasons for wanting seeds. We hope we can persuade Mr Burnell to buy seeds for us.

Enjoying looking at story books all about growing.

The children made a poster to help their friends remember how to help their seeds grow strong and healthy. They drew pictures and labeled their drawings.

The children enjoyed sequencing and retelling the story about Jack and the Beanstalk, using picture cards and props from the story book.

The children had fun drawing pretty flowers on the yard, using chalk. We enjoyed talking about the different parts of their plant.
