• The LPS Question Matrix is having a positive effect on developing key and wider skills across the curriculum for all learners at LPS.  This is reflected in the feedback from one of our Governors after the Review Week Video Conference feedback sessions, "The use of the Question Matrix is evident across all classes - and is being used effectively.  I loved hearing about the Reception class video calling the Year 5 class to ask them the questions that they had created about their topic 'People Who Help Us'. Once again it was great to hear how pupils within the school support each other. There is a truly 'authentic' Learning Community at LPS".

• During LPS Review Week, monitoring activities identified that the progress of learners within the application of key and wider skills is very good across the school.  However, the focus on wider skills requires more forensic focus within each class, unpicking greater detail within each of the 4 wider skills.

• SLT have devised an approach that will dovetail the refinement of the Pupil Learning Journal approach with the enhanced focus of Wider Skill application.

• The process and system of LPS Matrix and Pupil learning Journal already enhance the development and application of Key and Wider Skills, however with regard to Wider skills there is a requirement for each skill to be broken into sub skills in order to enhance the development in this area for all learners.

• SLT have reviewed and refined the PLJ Booklet to reflect and align with the Curriculum for Wales priorities, eliciting Cross-curricular Skills, Integral Skills and Cross-cutting Themes.

Next Steps:

• Provide staff training and offer strategies for developing Cross-curricular Skills, Integral Skills and Cross-cutting Themes through our refined Pupil Learning Journal and LPS Learning Projects.
