Welcome Letter!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Year 3! I hope you are all safe and well, and that you had a fabulous summer! I am really looking forward to teaching your children this year! They have all settled in to the new routines beautifully! What a lovely bunch they are!

Topic

Our class topic for this half term is What’s in Your Deadly 60? This project has a science focus and we will be stepping into CBBC’s Steve Backshall’s world of amazing and interesting creatures from Wales and all around the World!

Reading

The children will be allocated reading days. They need to bring their reading books and reading records into school on their reading day. Please read with your children as much as possible and you are welcome to make comments in their reading records. Thank you.

Homework

Spellings will be available to the children via Reading Eggspress on Fridays and will be tested the following Friday. The children will learn a new spelling rule and they will practise 20 words whilst using Reading Eggspress. They will be tested on 10 of those words in class the following Friday. The rule the children are learning each week will be on Y3 page of the LPS website.

Literacy homework will be set on Reading Eggspress every week. This might be a book to read from the library or a reading comprehension.

Maths homework will be set online using the MyMaths website.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday.

PE

This term, the children will have PE on a Tuesday. All PE sessions will be taking place outdoors. Please can you ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kits on Tuesdays. Thank you. PE days will change throughout the year, due to the nature of the activity taking place. I’ll inform you of day changes as and when they happen.

Equipment

The children will not be required to bring any pencils cases, calculators or writing equipment into school this year. It will all be provided for them!

Healthy Snack

The children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to school to enjoy at breaktime.

Pupil Information

In order to maintain up to date records, please could you inform me of any allergies, medication, or dietary requirements the children may have. Thank you.

Class Webpage

Please visit our class page regularly. I will post photos, pieces of work and videos in order to share all the great work we are doing in Year 3 within project areas.

Many thanks for your cooperation! If you have any questions or queries about anything, please don’t hesitate to give me a call on the school phone number.

Miss Evans.
