This Sunday, father’s across the UK have the whole day dedicated to them. Father’s Day is a chance to show appreciation your fathers, uncles or grandads. While you may not be able to do some of the things you’d normally do for Father’s Day, we have some ideas of how you can creatively celebrate during lockdown!
Back Garden Barbeque
It may be a bit of a stereotype that dad’s love barbeques, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a lot of fun. Cook him some of his favourite food (with an adult’s help!), play some of his favourite music and make the most of the sun. Who said you needed to go out to have a good party?
Make sure that you all wash your hands properly before touching any food and stay away from the hot grill if you don’t have an adult with you.
Movie Night
If you’re looking for a way to celebrate that is less weather dependent, a movie night might just be the answer. Grab a bowl of popcorn, a tub of ice-cream and plenty of pillows and blankets to enjoy one of his favourite films. Even better, why not have a movie marathon! If he loves Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, why not watch a few of them throughout the day?
Breakfast in Bed
Nothing is more special than taking your loved one some breakfast in bed. Whether his favourite is a cup of tea and a slice of toast or a full English breakfast, there’s something that makes it all taste much better when snuggled under the duvet.
Video Call
If you can’t be with your loved one in person, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great time together. Apps like Skype, Zoom and Facebook Messenger will all allow you to be connected to your family (and maybe give a few laughs over those less tech-savvy in the family).
Our PTFA would usually hold a gift shop, giving our children the opportunity to purchase a gift and card for their loved ones. However, this year is a little different, so we want to ask you to design your own card or craft at home! We would love to see what you make, so make sure to send your designs to Lynda Phillips at PhillipsL101@hwbcymru.net so that they can be displayed on our Connected Community page. There might even be a prize for the best one…!
