With regards to the teaching, within the after school provision, the staff members implement well planned clubs on a weekly timetable that engage and interest the children. We know this is the case because some children have told us that they are enjoying the activities and clubs that they are participating in. We can also see that the children are engaged and enjoying as when participating in the activity they are completing it with smiles on their faces and talking to their friends excitedly about what it is they are doing. This is something that can be seen within the pictures on the school website of the children participating in these clubs. The children enjoy coming up with ideas of things to do and learn and being actively involved in their own learning.
Within the day care provision, we assess the children against Developmental Pathways Wales using the Famly app. We implement an activity in line with one of the strands of the framework and then assess the child accordingly. Once the observation and assessment including pictures has been created and sent to parents we can then track the children as an individual or as a cohort to see their development across the years.
Priorities for Improvement:
Further improve care and development provision within the after school setting, adopting a more detailed and structured carousel of project plans that considers learner voice and choice in order to include those who do not want to participate in the current club.
Enhance provision within the after school setting through the implementation of the Day Nursery approach to staff review (SSTEW Scale framework) focusing on social and interaction development.
