WELCOME TO NURSERY!
Dear Parents,
Welcome to Nursery! We are looking forward to seeing you, having fun and getting busy. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and outline the routines of the class. I am Miss Gibbs and I will be welcoming your children into Nursery while working closely with Mrs Lawrence and Miss Howells. If you have a query or want to discuss any matters please just let us know and we will answer any questions you may have, or arrange a time to discuss this further.
Drop-off and Collection
For drop off school gates will be open 8.40-9am and finishes at 11.30am. I will be at our classroom door where I will greet you and Mrs Lawrence and Miss Howells will be waiting to help your child to place their snack and drinks into the correct boxes and to help them put their belongings on their own peg etc.
At the end of the school day we will dismiss children individually when we see their parent. Initially, this may take a little time, however once we learn all of your faces we will get quicker! Please let us know if another family member or friend is picking your child up that day. If you have any concerns over how your child is settling, please don’t hesitate to contact the office to gain further reassurance.
Snacks and drinks
Please could your child bring a healthy drink and a healthy snack labelled every day (No grapes, nuts or cherry tomatoes are allowed). Please could your child have their drink and a healthy snack ready to put in our snack and drink box in the morning, which will be placed at the main door as they enter the classroom. In order to maintain up to date records, please could you let the office know of any allergies, medication or dietary requirements your child may have.
Clothing
Please could you place a set of spare clothes, shoes and socks in your child’s bag every day, as your children may have accidents. The children will be encouraged to change into their dry clothes with support from the staff. We would ask that all items of clothing, coats and jumpers to be labelled clearly with your child’s name.
Messy Monday
On a Monday the children will be spending some, or all of the morning outside carrying out a range of activities and experiences, linked closely to our topic. The children will experience all weathers therefore on a Monday they will need warm clothing, a waterproof coat, wellies/old trainers and gloves, scarf and hat if particularly cold. As the children will get a little messy you may want to send them to school in old trousers, jeans or tracksuit bottoms along with their school T-Shirt, Jumper or Fleece. You can find photos and videos of our great activities and experiences during Messy Monday on the class webpage.
PE
PE will take place on Wednesday. Please could your child come to school already dressed in their PE kit (joggers/leggings, T-shirt, school jumper and trainers).
Children will also need to wear their outdoor PE kit on Thursday until October half term as we will be participating in Balance Bike sessions. Please ensure children have a waterproof coat every Thursday as these sessions will be outdoors.
School Website
Please visit our class page regularly. As well as homework, I will post regular photos and videos in order to share all the great work we are doing in Nursery.
Class Topic
Our topic this half term is ‘Welcome to LPS!’ In this topic, the children will be learning all about you and what makes you special. There will be many more, fun activities for the children to do and we can’t wait to get started!
Hopefully this answers any questions you may have. If there are any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss Gibbs
