Welcome to Year 1.

Dear Parents / Carers,

A very warm welcome to this new academic year. I am so happy to see all your faces again and hope you had a fantastic Summer break. Below is a short summary of what our routines are in Year 1 and a little insight into our first topic.

We have had a busy but lovely first week back to school and I am looking forward to getting to know the children and yourselves better over the coming weeks.

Class Topic –

Our first topic is ‘LPS Heroes!’ This topic is based around an epic rescue mission and everyone’s help is urgently needed. I know we will have a great time throughout this topic. Don’t forget we are having a Superhero dress up day on Monday 13^th Sep.

PE –

We will be having PE every Thursday. Please can the children come into school dressed in the PE kits. Please dress your children accordingly as PE will take place outdoors.

Healthy Snack and drinks –

Please can the children bring in a healthy snack and a water bottle every day. Please ensure that they are both clearly labelled with your child’s name. The children will need to bring their drinks and snacks into class each morning, so they must be easily accessible to them. In order to keep our records up to date, please let us know of any specific dietary requirements or allergies.

Reading –

Please read with your child throughout the week and then return their books on their allocated reading days. Books can be changed before their reading days if needed.

Homework –

Homework will be set via our online platforms Reading Eggs and MyMaths every Friday. The homework provides the children with a lesson which leads into a task. Passwords will be given out this week. Should you have any problems accessing the homework, please do let me know.
