Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to Year 3! I hope that you all had a fabulous summer! I am really looking forward to teaching your children this year. They are all settling in to the new routines and we’ve had lots of smiles this week! A brilliant start! Working alongside me in Year 3 this year is Ms John, and we are really excited to get started on our learning projects!

Topic

Our class topic for this half term is ‘Fantasia.’ This project has a science and geography focus and we will be learning about endangered animals, the rainforests, habitats, food chains and our wonderful Welsh wildlife! We will be going on a class trip to Plantasia soon, look out for more information shortly.

Reading

The children will be given one or two reading books and they will be allocated reading days. They need to bring their reading books and reading records into school on their reading day. Please read with your children as much as possible and you are welcome to make comments in their reading records. Just a reminder, children do not need to wait until their reading day to change their books. They just need to remember to change them with me, so I can update my reading record. Thank you.

Homework

We have made some minor changes to our homework systems this year. All homework can be found in the Gwaith Cartref / Homework section on our class page. For further information, please see September’s newsletter.

Spelling

We will be continuing to use Vocabulary Ninja! A spelling session will be taught in class on a Friday. A spelling list linked to the lesson will be uploaded to our class page on the website on a Friday ready for a quiz the following Friday. The first week of spellings will go out on 12/09/25.

PE

This half term, the children will have PE on a Thursday and Friday. PE sessions will be taking place indoors and outdoors. Please can you ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kits on their PE days, thank you. PE days will change throughout the year, due to the nature of the activity taking place. I will inform you of day changes with plenty of notice.

Healthy Snack

The children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to school every day to enjoy at break time.

Class Webpage

Please check our class page regularly. I’ll be posting photos, videos and examples of the children’s work to share the exciting learning happening in Year 3.

Pupil Information

In order to maintain up to date records, please could you inform the office of any allergies, medication or dietary requirements the children may have. Thank you.

Many thanks for your cooperation. If you have any questions or queries about anything, please don’t hesitate to give me a call on the school phone number. I am looking forward to a fabulous year with your wonderful children!

Miss Evans.
