WELCOME TO YEAR 1!

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome to the new academic year! We are delighted to see you all and hope you had a wonderful summer break. The children have had a fantastic first few days and have settled into Year 1 brilliantly.

To help us avoid lost property, please make sure all of your child’s belongings are clearly labelled.

Our Class Topic

Our first project of the year is LPS Happy Healthy Helpers!—a Health and Well-Being focused topic. We will begin by exploring the LPS Code and thinking about how we can be respectful and responsible members of Llangyfelach Primary. We will also look at how to stay fit and healthy, working alongside the HHH Pupil Voice group to encourage others in school to lead active, healthy lifestyles too!

School Trip

Details will be shared with you very soon.

PE

PE will take place every Tuesday and Thursday, mainly outdoors. On these days, please ensure your child arrives at school wearing their PE kit:

• Joggers/leggings or shorts
• T-shirt
• Trainers
• School jumper

Snacks and Drinks

Please send your child to school each day with:

• A healthy snack in a labelled container
• A water bottle
  If your child has any allergies, dietary requirements, or medication needs, please make sure the school office has up-to-date information.

Reading

Your child’s new reading day will be noted in their reading record by the end of this week. Reading books should be returned on this day.
If your child finishes a book before their reading day, they are welcome to return it early to be changed.

Homework

There have been a few changes to the homework this year. Going forward, homework will be uploaded to the class page every Friday. The homework will include an activity or game to reinforce the lessons and skills covered during the week. For additional information, please refer to the newsletter.

School Website

Please check our class page regularly. I’ll be posting photos, examples of the children’s work, and videos to share the exciting learning happening in Year 1.
