The children looked at some information with Mrs Harris-Griffiths to find out all about Spring. They found out about the different animals that are born and the different flowers that are starting to blossom.
The children enjoyed playing a game with Mrs Harris-Griffiths, What can you see in spring? Mrs Harris- Griffiths gave some clues to the children to guess what was hiding.
Together the children shared their information they already new and asked questions they wanted to find out about with in the topic, Shall We Eggsplore? They asked question like, Are eggs the same size? Do eggs have patterns? Do chickens lay eggs? How do flowers grow? Mrs Harris-Griffiths wrote the children's questions on Pupil's Voice. To find out this information the children watched a video all about eggs and they discovered that eggs are different sizes, they have different patterns and chickens lay eggs. They then watched how a plant grows and also found out what a plant needs to help it grow.
We asked the children do all animals lay eggs? To find out, we went on an egg hunt looking and collecting eggs around the yard and found out when the eggs began to hatch, there were many animals lay eggs, such as frogs, birds, snakes, spiders and many more. We sorted the animals when we went back to class.
During our topic Shall We Eggsplore, the children had a lot of fun exploring and creating their own bird seed. They loved mixing the bird seed together, making their hands sticky.
Look at the children working hard writing their sounds in the birds seed.
The children recognized the numbers and coloured the right picture on the egg.
Mrs Harris-Griffiths read a story about spring and introduced the Welsh names of the spring animals that lay eggs. The children were eager to show their friends how clever they are at naming the animal in Welsh.
Listen to the videos below.
The children watched a video clip about The Life Cycle of a Chicken. Together we talked about the different stages of the cycle and learnt new words like, hatching, Rooster and pecking.
Wraparound children had fun running around exploring the yard looking for the flowers that have blown away. They collected them and marked the flower found on the scavenger sheet.
The children did a science experiment about what happens to the chocolate in different temperature. Together we explore what would happen when chocolate gets warm, and see what happens when it goes in the fridge. The children found out when the chocolate is warm it melts and when it goes in the fridge it goes hard.
The children talked about how to take care of a plant and with some help named the different parts of a plant with Mrs Harris-Griffiths. The children had fun with their friends, using the sequencing cards to help them grow cress. They are looking forward to watch the cress grow.
