Through monitoring workbooks, listening to learners and lesson observations, it is evident that there is improved consistency of effective application of AfL approaches across the school. Nearly all learners are actively involved within their learning and setting targets for their personal improvements.
Nearly all learners can articulate what they are required to do and how to go about improving their work, for example children explain the functions of success criteria in order to regularly review their performance in achieving the lesson objective.
Regular professional discussions and activities during ADDs and Phase meetings have proven effective in achieving greater consistency across the school, when homing in on key practices and policies such as:
Teaching & Learning Booklet and Policy
AfL Booklet
Personal Learning Journey
Marking Policy
Sharing Understanding of Progression Sessions
Our new Friday Review initiative is evolving throughout the year with some very good examples of how learners are using this time to improve their work and learning. The use of sharing good practice during professional meetings has been beneficial for the development of this system as it continues to evolve.
From our review systems and Monitoring Committee visits, Governors and SLT agreed that skills applied and developed in workbooks and transferred to Project Work were of an equitable standard.
Governors agreed that the school has,"Consistently high standards across the board', and that all learners are involved in the learning process and have a high level of input and decision making.
Discussions from Phase, ADDs and Monitoring Committee meetings all align with recent WBS outcomes, that Learner Self and Peer Reflection/marking could be further enhanced using simple uniform strategies across the school.
