During our Spring Term LPS Review Fortnight, members of the Creative Crew Pupil Voice Group and the AoLE leader undertook workbook looks and spoke to learners.
We identified the following strengths:
All progression steps have have continued to complete a variety of cross curricular Expressive Arts activities from the new LPS Learning Projects. In Rockpool Raiders, Reception created 3D sand sculptures on their visit to the beach. In LPS and Brynteg Farm, Year 1 created 3D animal sculptures using air-drying clay. They also created artwork which of Brynteg Farm using various tones and textures. In The Bay Magazine, Year 2 created an advert for improving tourism in Swansea Bay and they created animations in the style of Sir Karl Jenkins. They also completed artwork on the beauty and features of Swansea Bay. In LPS Market, Year 3 created an advert to promote Swansea Market. They also created designs for Celtic jewellery which will be made and sold in their market at the summer fete. In LPS Fitness Fanatics, Year 4 created personal portraits and they have started to produce an advert to attract custom for their healthy bars. In Creative Cymru, Year 6 created explored with colour in the style of Phillip Cheater.
The AoLE leader showed the music scheme Charanga to teaching staff in an ADDs session and invited staff to familiarise themselves with the scheme and see where they will be able to use with their classes. While most teachers have had a look through the website, none are yet to use the resource with their class, except Year 3, who have been using it to accompany their PBuzz sessions. This will be a focus for Expressive Arts in 2024-25.
The Creative Crew and AoLE Leader have worked together to review the new projects throughout the school to identify progression and coverage of the Expressive Arts What Matters Statements. They found that the children were being given tasks at the correct level and the standard of the children’s work that they saw was good.
