Play, Learn and Grow Together

River Ilston

As part of the project, the learning is centred around lots of different interesting questions. These questions cover each Area of Learning and allow the children to gain rich knowledge about the project.

As part of our LPS Matrix approach, we activated our prior knowledge about the topic, discussed what we would like to learn about, created higher-order thinking questions to explore throughout, and finally identified the skills we would need throughout the topic.

Here are the questions we thought of collaboratively:

1. How might a person in space see a tsunami is about to hit?
2. What is the process of a volcano eruption?
3. What might be the cause of a flood?
4. What is the history behind the first volcano eruption?

5. How might an earthquake happen?
6. What might be the history behind the River Ilston?
7. What different species might live in and around the River Ilston?
8. Where is the country that is most impacted by deforestation?
9. What is the history behind Pompeii?
- What might it look like now?
10. What might be the signs that a tornado is about to hit?
