This week in Wraparound we have been learning about Diwali. The activities were based around the Hindu festival of light. The children had fun creating their own Rangoli patterns using paint, chalks and jewels in the playdough. Through watching video clips and listening to stories the children learnt all about Diwali and took part in some fun activities with their friends. The children also looked amazing dressed in Indian clothes.
The children listened to the story about Rama and Sita and then used the puppets to retell the story with their friends.
After listening to the story about Rama and Sita the children enjoyed exploring the sensory garden of Rama and Sita and lit the candles to help them find their way back home.
The children watched how Mehndi is painted on the ladies hand. They then had a try of creating some patterns on a hand using paint in a bag as henna.
The children designed their own Mehndi patterns on the hand print using paint as henna.
As part of learning about Diwali we all joined in together to make some Diwali sweets.
