This week in phonics, we have been learning the letter sounds u and l.

Sound focus:

• u – as in umbrella, up, under

• l – as in lamp, leg, log

At home, please can you:

• Say the sounds u and l clearly

• Look for objects around the house that start with u or l and say them out loud

• Practise reading and saying these words: up, us, log, leg, cup, run

• Have a go at writing the letters u and l, remembering correct letter formation

More activities:

• Play I Spy using the sounds u and l

• Draw a picture of something that starts with u or l and label it

• Read a short book and spot words with u and l
