This week in phonics, we have been learning the ‘ll’ sound.

    Sound focus:

    • ll – as in bell, hill, doll

    At home, please can you:

    • Say the ‘ll’ sound clearly

    • Look for objects or words around the house that contain ll and say them out loud

    • Practise reading and saying these words: bell, hill, doll, ball, well, fill

    • Have a go at writing the ‘ll’ letters, remembering correct letter formation

    More activities:

    • Play I Spy using words that contain the ‘ll’ sound

    • Draw a picture of something with ll in the word and label it (for example: ball or bell)

    • Read a short book and try to spot words that contain ll.

    Challenge:
Have a go at writing some sentences using words with the ‘ll’ sound.

    For example:

    • The bell will ring.

    • I can see a red ball.

    • The doll is on the bed.

    • We walk up the hill.

Try to write your own sentences using ll words such as ball, bell, hill, doll, well, fill. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, and a full stop.
