LPS Spring Festival

LPS Matrix: LPS Spring Festival

Mr Burnell has asked us to organise the biggest, brightest, and most beautiful spring festival that celebrates all the cultures within our wonderful community. We are up for the challenge and cannot wait to plan an amazing festival! We worked hard to think all about what we already know about our topic.  We looked at the PLJ and linked some of the strands to our topic. We decided that teamwork was very important as we needed to work together to plan our festival. We then worked together and came up with 4 questions we would like to find out:

1. What celebrations happen in Church?

2. Why do we have chocolate eggs at Easter?

3. Why do we celebrate Valentines day?

4. Who is Guy Fawkes?

What we already know

Researching different celebrations and festivals.

Let’s learn more about different cultures before we plan our big event. We worked hard to research Chinese New Year, Holi and Birthdays around the world.

Our visit to Llangyfelach Church

We had a great time at Llangyfelach Church this week. Father Anthony told us all about the church and the festivals they celebrate in church.  He told us what happens in christenings and weddings.  He showed us his special robes and some of us tried them on! We learnt what each of the different colour robes represent. We talked about the Easter story and Father Anthony gave us some books to take home. Father Anthony answered all of our questions and has invited us back next term for our very own wedding. We cannot wait!

We enjoyed learning about St. Dwynwen's Day this week. We loved hearing Mrs Gaffney- Jones tell us the story of St Dwynwen, Wales' patron saint of love. Watch us retell the story and make St Dwynwen's Day cards for those we love.

Happy St Dwynwen’s Day
