The children began the project by sharing their prior knowledge of what they already know about this topic! They then used the LPS Question Matrix to generate higher-order thinking questions about things that they would like to find out throughout the learning project!
The children then carried out research and 'debunked' the myth whether or not all organs are vital! They had to define the function of the organ and decide whether they were vital or non-vital. They looked into what would happen if an organ stopped working and how organs help each other.
Next, pupils had to come to a decision and investigate the importance of food and how it affects the organs in the body.
In order for pupils to develop their understanding further and use their reading skills, they answered a comprehension about 'The Impact of Lifestyle Choices on the Human Body'. This prepared them for the next piece of work!
To conclude work on what makes a healthy lifestyle, the children created a double-page spread of all the lifestyle choices they felt were most important to make a 'healthy lifestyle'. They used their digital citizenship skills to safely research key facts about each choice and summarise their findings.
