Target 1

During SLT monitoring and Workbook Scrutiny we identified that:

  • Workbook scrutiny demonstrates that our younger learners are developing the cursive form with confidence, improving their fine motor skills and over-all presentation and style.

  • Nearly all of our older learners are taking part in weekly handwriting sessions to support their development of cursive handwriting. 

  • Supportive systems in place such as staff modelling and the Presentation Dojo, reward the use of cursive handwriting throughout all written work, to encourage further development in our policy.

  • More consistency of policy and scheme application across the school and to be reviewed next round of reviews.

 

Next Steps:

  1. Improve consistency of implementation of cursive handwriting to all areas of learning, across the school.

  2. Ensure that all staff are modelling cursive handwriting in everything they do, at all times, therefore complying with the LPS Handwriting Policy.
