Year 3 Welcome Letter 2020-2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you are all safe and well, and that you had a fabulous summer!

I am really looking forward to teaching your children this year! Mrs Johns will be our Year 3 Teaching Assistant so I’m sure the children will be delighted to see a familiar face!

Topic Our class topic for this half term is ‘Tribe!’ This project has a history focus and the children will be exploring who the Celts were, when they lived, Celtic traditions and ways of life.

Reading The children will be allocated reading days. They need to bring their reading books into school on their reading day. Please can they bring their reading records into school every day as we comment on the children reading different genres throughout the week. Please read with your children as much as possible and you are welcome to make comments in their reading records. Thank you.

Homework Spellings will be uploaded to the Y3 page of the school website on Fridays and will be tested the following Friday. Maths homework will be set online using the MyMaths website and literacy homework will be set online using the Giglets website. Children will be given up to date login details for all our ICT platforms. Homework will be set on a Friday and is to be completed by the following Friday.

PE The children will have PE on a Tuesday. All PE sessions will be taking place outdoors. Please can you ensure children come to school dressed in their PE kits on Tuesdays and please ensure it is suitable for going outdoors. Please can long hair be tied up for PE lessons. Earrings must be removed for PE lessons. If your child is unable to do this by themselves, please could they not wear them on their PE day. Thank you.

Equipment The children will not be required to bring any pencils cases, calculators or writing equipment into school this year. It will all be provided for them. These will then be disinfected at the end of each class session.

Pupil Records In order to maintain up to date records, please could you inform me of any allergies, medication, or dietary requirements.

Many thanks for your cooperation! If you have any questions or queries about anything, please don’t hesitate to give me a call on the school phone number.
