Play, Learn and Grow Together

Week 4/5/2020

Hi everyone! I have had great emails from your families telling me you all enjoyed learning about the rainforest! Well done! This is our last week on the Scented Garden topic and I'm very excited to start our new topic next week!

Here is a picture of me in my Reception school photo! Can you spot me? I'll tell you where I am at the bottom of the page :)

We've had fun playing Santa and building a sleigh! We also made pizzas! Yum!

Well done on last week's unit of work! This week we are learning about estimating using MyMaths - or I like to call them lucky guesses! You can use lots of fun activities at home to help you estimate. You could tip out some pens, cars, sweets or teddies and have a competition with your family! All of you estimate how many pens or cars are in the pile and write your estimate (lucky guess) down on paper. Once you have all written down your answer, count the items carefully. Who was the closest? They are the winner! Now close your eyes and ask an adult to add some or take some objects away. How will this affect your next estimate? Will your number be higher or lower? I wonder who will be the best at the estimating game?

To consolidate your learning of the maths topics we have studied over the past weeks, try this super game on BBC Bitesize - Karate Cats! Its great!

Enjoy your text set on Giglets and use Oxford Owl for your second book. Choose your correct level and select a book to read and enjoy!

This week we are focusing on the 'oa' blend. Spellings and a spelling video are saved in your usual place. Don't forget that you can also use Phonics Play and select a game to practise this week's blend too.

I know from your emails that you all enjoyed learning about plants and trees in the Rainforest - I'm glad you all had fun!

This week is the final week of our Scented Garden Topic!

I would like us all to look back over the past weeks and think about our learning. You have all learned so much and completed so many great activities! Look back through all the photos and activities we have done and think about:

  • What do I know about plants and trees that I didn't know before?
  • What do plants need to grow?
  • Why are trees and plants important to us and our environment?
  • How do plants and trees help us? What do they give us?
  • What was your favourite part of the topic?

After thinking about this carefully, can you create a super evaluation to sum up everything you have learned over the last 6 weeks? Your super evaluation could be a sentence, a poster, a booklet, a drawing with labels etc or a j2e mix presentation. You can choose how you want to present it, make sure it shows everything you have learned about plants.

You could also use these great resources on BBC Bitesize to help you.

I'm second row, first seat on the left. I'm wearing a green dress and favourite bright red shoes!
